MMRE invites Prof. Dr. Haydn Chen launch 3+2 Dual Degree Program of UIUC

The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MMRE) at National Taipei University of Technology (NTUT) has partnered with the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) to launch a “3+2 Dual Degree Program,” opening new academic horizons for students. Under this program, students will complete three years at NTUT and then pursue two years at UIUC, earning both a bachelor’s degree from NTUT and a master’s degree from UIUC. The master’s program offers a non-thesis option, allowing students to focus on coursework and advanced academic resources.

To promote the program, NTUT will host a keynote lecture by Prof. Dr. Haydn Chen, Emeritus Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at UIUC, on March 3, 115 (Taiwanese calendar), from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the 5F Speech Hall, MMRE Building. Prof. Chen, a distinguished scholar and former university president, will share insights into the advantages of international academic collaboration.

Enrollment is highly competitive and limited, targeting second- and third-year MMRE students. Applicants must present TOEFL/IELTS scores, strong academic performance, and GRE results. This program represents not only an academic challenge but also a gateway to global opportunities.
